The national police recruitment campaign is supporting the government’s commitment to recruit an additional 20,000 police officers in England and Wales. As well as delivering more officers, the police uplift presents an excellent opportunity to make the police service representative of the communities it serves by supporting forces to become more diverse. That’s why it has partnered with national staff associations, including the LGBT+ Network, to help encourage people from under-represented groups to apply to join the police.
The police recruitment campaign is proud to work closely with staff associations such as the LGBT+ Network to help understand the barriers to joining the police for people from under-represented groups. By doing this, the campaign listens to the needs of different communities and champions diversity to support the police service to be more diverse and representative. This partnership includes featuring interviews from serving police officers from the LGBT+ community and addressing concerns potential recruits may have.
